The color scale is too hard for normal eyes, for example to distinguish between 3-4 C anomaly...this sort of graphic are making the people (specially authorities) nervous...because at glance (this is how people is going top see it) the anomaly is above 4 C...I can not really distinguish between 4-5 or 1-2..and so on...can you? If June-August anomaly is 1.22 C, that means the range is moderate-strong (>1.5 is strong), then the strength of el Niño should be said as such, or not? I repeat good article
