Notes from our reviewers

The CLEAN collection is hand-picked and rigorously reviewed for scientific accuracy and classroom effectiveness. Read what our review team had to say about this resource below or learn more about how CLEAN reviews teaching materials.

  • If teaching this lesson outside of Alaska it might be good to have some background info on how local energy is created, which could include personal stories on how we all use energy and ideas for conserving energy. Teachers may want to find information on their area to substitute for the information about Alaska in the script to make it more relevant. The additional resource (which includes information about a Christmas Carol from 2022) can be omitted as it doesn't apply, and though the Molly of Denali is cute, it doesn't go with the lesson. The video on Energy Successes could be too long for this audience and not very captivating. This activity will appeal to learners who learn by doing and visualizing.
